So, it’s time to start looking for a new set of tires for your car? What will it be? A set of high performance tires? Or perhaps you are looking for a set of high mileage, smooth riding tires? There are a lot of things to consider before buying a new set of tires. Here are some helpful tips to help you with buying new tires.
Car tires are just another cost of owning and operating a motor vehicle. It’s the sum of all these little repairs that add up over time. Personally, I and many people I know have decided to sell our cars and use the park and ride bus system instead. While this is wonderful for day to day living, my family does still own one car for taking on trips and urgent, unplanned travel around town.
1. Driving habits – What are you looking for out of your tires? Is it a tire that corners well or one that rides smooth?
2. Weather – Do you live in an area that receives a lot of rainfall? If so, you may want to consider a good all weather tires such as a Michelin.
On the other end of the scale, if you live in an area with severe winter conditions you will naturally want a winter tire that cuts through snow.
3. Go online - The internet can help you in so many ways when it comes to auto tires. You can research different tire makers and compare prices as well.
You can also find tire dealers in your area and any special offers they may be having. They can even tell you online whether the tires you are looking for are in stock or not. It makes things so convenient.
4. Extras – Will you want an extended tire warranty or flat repair protection with your purchase? While this is a personal choice, a flat repair package can come in handy at times.
If you are unfamiliar about your particular tires, go to the vehicles identification sticker (located in the vehicles door or glove box) or owners manual, for the information you need.
